Students from Two Main Line Private Schools Gather to Help Feed the Hungry

DEVON, Pa. - Dec. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- More than 40 Devon Prep and Notre Dame Academy freshmen gathered in Devon Prep’s dining facility recently to get acquainted with each other and help those less fortunate. The teenagers were participating in “Peanut Butter Meets Jelly” a service project sponsored by Devon Prep’s Christian Action Program (CAP).

The boys brought the peanut butter, the girls brought the jelly and CAP brought the bread. Together they made nearly 400 PB&J sandwiches to be donated to the Patrician Society’s Emergency Food Cupboard in Norristown, a non-sectarian food pantry which serves more nearly 1,300 area families.

Although the process was sometimes messy the end result was well worth it as new friendships were made along with all those sandwiches.

CAP provides Devon Prep students with the opportunity to care for and help those less fortunate.  CAP also sponsors a Thanksgiving Food Drive, fundraisers for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,  a School Supplies Drive for inner-city students in need, a Christmas party for residents of St. Edmond's Home, clothing drives and various other service projects.
