By: Aleh Foundation Congressman Bob Turner has shown dedication and immeasurable support to important global causes as well as major Jewish causes, including hunting down Nazi war Criminals. Congressman Turner was among a few politicians who sent a letter to The Honorable Janos Adler, President of Republic of Hungary as well as the Prime Minister, The Honorable Viktor Orban urging them in the strongest possible terms to immediately bring to justice the notorious Nazi war criminal Ladislaus Csizsik-Csatary. He was recently discovered living in Budapest. During World War II, Mr. Csizsik-Csatary was a commander in the Royal Hungarian Police. He was in charge of officers who guarded a Jewish ghetto in the town of Kassau (what is now Kocise, Slovakia). A true sadist, he showed extremely cruelty toward the Jews in Kassa. This cruelty included beating women with a whip, forcing people to dig ditches with their bare hands, and enforcing a policy of shooting those with the courage to try to escape. See http://votesmart.org/ Congressman Turner encouraged its citizens during tough situations by saying “New York city ahs always been adept at handling complex situations. The first step when dealing with a difficult situation, such as the one we are currently faced with, is to ensure that our priorities are in order. There is no doubt that right now our number one focus should be getting disaster relief to those who have been affected by this storm. The decision to cancel this weekend’s marathon was the right thing to do. People around the world being shown the resilience of New Yorkers an the unity of this great country as we continue to come together and help one another recover and rebuild from this devastating hurricane. “ He also commended Israel for the manner in which it is going about defending its citizens and is calling on President Obama to back his statements of support. "I would like to commend Israel for showing restraint during the initial days of escalated attacks from Gaza. The increased missile strikes by Palestinian militants into the heart of Israel have put even more innocent citizens in d anger, and I support Israeli leadership's decision to defend them, " Turner said. Following are some remarks from Congressman Bob Turner when he joined with his fellow New Yorkers and Americans in remembering all those lost during the 9/11 attacks."Today, we are a nation of one; one city that embodies a nation, one collective heart mourning the loss of many, one nation standing together to remember the lives and ideals of so many tragically lost at the hands of unwarranted terror. We cannot and will not ever forget all those who lost their lives on that fateful day. The mothers; fathers; brothers; sisters; husbands; wives; loved ones; friends; colleagues; and the brave first responders who came rushing to the scene to save countless lives amidst mayhem and confusion. However many years removed we have become from that day, none of us will ever forget the anxiety we felt as we tried to locate our loved ones, the shock we felt as we watched the towers fall, and the grief we shared after they came down. Today marks the anniversary of one of our darkest hours, but even from the depths of darkness, New Yorkers, our beloved city, and this great country picked ourselves up after the attack and came back stronger and more resilient than ever. We will never forget all those lost and carry them with us each and every day as we move forward." Congressman Turner is currently Owner and Partner in a successful Hotel Business.
