Pussy & Pooch And URBAN RADISH Announce the 2013 Grant Recipients of The ELVIS ‘Endowment’ Fund

LOS ANGELES - Jan. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- Through a Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) business collaboration, URBAN RADISH and Pussy & Pooch Pethouse and Pawbar announced the four recipients receiving grants from The ELVIS Fund, an Endowment benefiting local animal rescue efforts.

The 2013 recipients were selected from a pool of rescues based on the following requirements. Their reach is in DTLA, they are a 501(c)3 no-kill shelter and they have a high success rate of placing animals in good homes.

The 2013 grants have been awarded to the following:

Angel City Pit Bulls

Downtown Dog Rescue/Watts Project

Dawg Squad

Karma Rescue

The Fall benefit took place at URBAN RADISH, bringing together residents and pets living in the DTLA Arts District. The party helped raise awareness for local rescues by holding adoptions and raising funds that were dispersed through the The ELVIS Fund Endowment to animals in need.

“We were pleased to have the opportunity to host and unite our pet friendly community and local businesses for this event, since many of the DTLA residents are pet owners that have adopted dogs and cats from local rescues and shelters,” said Carolyn Paxton, Co-owner of URBAN RADISH and Founder of The ELVIS ‘Endowment’ Fund.

The ELVIS Fund is a donor-advised fund that awards grants yearly to the community and is managed by the Pasadena Community Foundation.  The Endowment was founded in 2005 by Carolyn Paxton, Founder/Designer of Chi WOW WOW®, and Co-owner of URBAN RADISH as a legacy for her and her chihuahua, 'ELVIS'. Its mission is to help reduce the number of homeless animals and support those people who are working hard to educate the public regarding animal care and responsibility.
