FixLogix Modular T-Slot CMM Fixture System captures large market share

LANSING, Mich. - Jan. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- FixLogix LLC manufactures a “next generation” modular fixture system for CMMs and other measurement systems. The system incorporates a proprietary line of aluminum extrusions to produce fabricated T-slot fixture plates and other components manufactured at a fraction of the cost of traditional tooling plates. The fixture plates and integrated component kits are highly functional at about ½ the price of competing systems. This unique approach has allowed FixLogix to capture and maintain significant market share while competing against the four largest metrology companies in the world. The FixLogix system is being used successfully in a range of companies from very small two-man shops to some of the largest aerospace, automotive, defense, and medical product manufacturers in the world.

T-slot systems offer infinite positioning of locating components, which simplifies fixture construction. The T-slots are combined with a laser engraved reference system that provides clear documentation of the fixture setup for easy repeatability. The T-slots are Alpha-identified, with engraved reference scales along the T-slots. Systems are available in English or Metric versions. The fixture system also incorporates unique clamping solutions with “best in class” functionality.

Designed initially for CMMs, the product range has been expanded to offer modular holding solutions for a wide variety of dimensional metrology applications. These applications include portable 3D coordinate inspection systems such as articulating arms, non-contact 3D scanners, vision systems, optical comparators, and form measuring instruments for checking threads, surface roughness, roundness, and form tracing devices. The system has also been applied to laser engraving applications.

Going forward FixLogix is leveraging its position in the metrology field to expand into other growth technologies in metrology. Recently FixLogix has established distribution agreements with nub3d and Geodetic Systems Inc. to offer 3D non-contact structured light scanners and photogrammetry systems to their customers. Both nub3d and GSI have smooth integration to each other, and also to Polyworks software from InnovMetric. This allows FixLogix to offer an integrated solution to non-contact 3D scanning; including new modular fixture concepts under development for these 3D non-contact systems.
