ADA Sign Depot Announces Paddle STOP Signs For School Crossing Guards and Emergency Personnel

Rugged, Two-Sided Aluminum Hand-Held STOP Signs Now Sold Directly to School Crossing Guards, Police and Fire Departments, and Emergency Response Personnel

SAN DIEGO - Jan. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- Today ADA Sign Depot announced their new product line of lightweight yet rugged hand-held aluminum STOP and STOP-SLOW signs for school crossing guards, police and fire departments, government agencies and emergency response personnel.

“Over the years we’ve provided indoor ADA compliant signs to schools for bathrooms, exits, stairs and room identification,” said David Boyne, sales manager at ADA Sign Depot, San Diego. “Working with our customers we began to hear a common compliant. The signs their crossing guards had to use were too big and too heavy. These signs were 18-inches or even 24-inches wide, the same signs that highway road crews would use. School kids or parents and grandparents volunteering as school crossing guards were not strong enough to hold and raise and lower these signs for hours. Especially in high winds. ”

That led ADA Sign Depot to partner with a major road sign manufacturer to design and build a smaller octagonal STOP sign much easier for school crossing guards to use. “Our 12-inch wide two-sided STOP signs provide excellent visibility in school zones where traffic is usually moving slower,” Boyne explains. “You don’t need a freeway-rated size sign. The smaller size, lighter weight aluminum, and wood handle of our signs make them easy for anyone to use properly.”

These lightweight two-sided hand-held paddle signs are available for purchase on the ADASignDepot.com ecommerce website. “We accept purchase orders from schools, municipalities, and government agencies,” Boyne explains, “But when we learned that volunteer school crossing guards, and even small town police officers, volunteer firemen or first responders, sometimes need to purchase their own paddle signs, we made it so there is no minimum order. They can buy just one or our STOP or STOP-Slow paddle signs on our website and we’ll ship it the same day.”

A Reputation for Consistent Excellence

ADA compliant signs and products available for direct purchase on the ADA Sign Depot website include custom Braille signs, handicap parking signs, and restroom signs, as well as the new hand-held STOP sign paddles. “We sell a lot of ADA signage to contractors, small businesses, and property managers,” Boyne said. “We try to be one source where they can find all the ADA signs they need. From handicap parking signs for their parking areas, to the proper ADA guide signs directing people to accessible entrances, to all the signs necessary inside a building to make the restrooms, exits, stairs and rooms compliant with accessibility laws.”

While the website shows over 600 stock and made-to-order ADA signs, very often the correct sign for a particular situation has to be custom made. “Every property is unique,” Boyne said. “That’s why we make a lot of custom signs, whether tactile Braille signs for indoors, or custom reflective aluminum signs that will last ten years outdoors. We develop new products in a very simple but effective way: We listen to our customers. When we make a custom sign that solves a problem for one customer, helps them pass an inspection or make their business more accessible, there’s a good chance our other customers could benefit from having that sign or product in our inventory.”
