By: Booktrope Publishing In Gale Martin’s newest novel, Ellie Overton is a 28-year-old rest home receptionist with a pussycat nose who also happens to be gaga for the pop singer Tom Jones. Regrettably single, she is desperate to have a red-hot love relationship, like those she’s read about in romance novels. Following an astrological hunch, she attends a Tom Jones Festival and meets an available, young impersonator with more looks than talent. Though he’s knocked out of the contest, he’s still in the running to become Ellie’s blue-eyed soul mate—until he’s accused of killing the competition. It’s not unusual that the handsome police detective working the case is spending more time pursuing Ellie than collaring suspects. So, she enlists some wily and witty rest home residents to help find the real murderer. The novel is set against the backdrop of another small town in Pennsylvania called Pankey, sister city to Hankey and the setting for her debut novel. “Besides watching too many grainy YouTube videos of Tom Jones’ performances, I had the extraordinary good fortune to interview the world’s best Tom Jones impersonator Steve McCoy, a New Jersey native and Tom Jones impersonation contest winner, who stars as Tom Jones in ‘Legends in Concert,’” Gale Martin said. “‘Legends’ Steve McCoy’s likeness is also featured on the cover. The photo was taken in Las Vegas in 1995 while McCoy was performing with “Legends in Concert.” "I've never had the chance to hurl an undergarment at Sir Tom Jones or anyone impersonating him," Martin concluded. "I suppose that has been on my bucket list decades before the term 'bucket list, became popular." * * * “In Who Killed ‘Tom Jones’?, Gale Martin has perfectly captured the world of tribute artists and, also, the universe of Tom Jones fans.”—Ellen Sterling, moderator of TomJonesInternational.com, the world’s largest fan website “Martin's original voice, masterful storytelling, and distinctive characters had me snorting in laughter on the NYC subway one minute and biting my nails wondering ‘who done it’ the next.”-- -- Meredith Schorr, author of Just Friends with Benefits, A State of Jane, and Blogger Girl Appearances and book signings by Ms. Gale Martin for WHO KILLED TOM JONES will be held: · April 5th at the Pagoda Writers Group at the Reading Pagoda, Reading PA, 1-3 pm · July 13th during BookFest PA, in State College, PA from 10 to 5 p.m. WHO KILLED ‘TOM JONES’? will be available in print and ebook editions on January 21, 2014, on Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com, as well as on iTunes.
