CMS plc launches Atlantis Hydrotec System - Communications on Tap

ALTON, U.K. - Jan. 27, 2014 - PRLog -- CMS plc announced the launch of the new Atlantis Hydrotec® system at a launch event held at their Head Office in Farnborough. The system provides an innovative and cost effective way of delivering fibre optics through existing drinking water supply pipes, making fibre to the home (FTTH) or commercial premises both cost effective and simple to implement.

The patented and WRAS approved system is made up of specially designed fittings, which are installed into the start and end locations of the supply pipes. Micro-duct is then installed between these two fittings, and fibre can be blown through the micro-duct without coming into contact with the water supply.

This system offers a number of benefits over traditional FTTH systems and typically costs 80% less to install. By using the existing water pipe infrastructure there is no requirement for major excavation work and minimum disruption at the install site. Additionally there is no wastage to be removed from site. All the component parts of the system are made in the UK and are compliant to ISO 9001 quality standards.

The Atlantis Hydrotec system is available in two different versions for domestic or commercial applications.

The D Series domestic version comprises fittings that enable up to 12 fibres to be blown through the micro-duct. Typical applications for this version are Single or Multi dwelling units as well as point-to-point connections between buildings.

The T Series commercial version uses larger fittings and allows up to 144 fibres to be blown through the micro-duct. Typical applications for this are: backbones in metropolitan areas, distribution of fibre to rural locations and backhaul connections for mobile phone masts.
