VAR Dynamics Launches ‘Modern Public Folders’ for Microsoft Exchange 2013

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Jan. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- Today VAR Dynamics, a provider of Software-as-a-Service and Cloud business apps to the IT Channel announced the release of Modern Public Folders for Microsoft Exchange 2013.

Public Folders are critical to companies needing a centralized location for sharing calendars, contacts, files, and messages that is easily accessible from Microsoft Outlook. Features like mail-enabled Public Folders as a shared repository of message traffic has never been matched on any other Microsoft product. However, Public Folders have always been difficult to replicate, restore, and recover, so Public Folders have also been a sensitive topic for IT administrators. Due to high customer demand, VAR Dynamics has introduced Modern Public Folders for the Exchange 2013 platform.

Modern Public Folders, an additional collaboration option for VAR Dynamics’ Hosted Exchange mailboxes, are now offered with High Availability. After long speculation and confusion of Microsoft’s plans to discontinue Public Folders, the collaboration feature has been resurrected sans the old clunky Public Folder architecture. In Exchange 2013 the new design moves away from a separate Public Folder database to mailbox stores. This single-master replication model results in a faster access to Public Folders and it allows Public Folders to be protected by the Database Availability Group (DAG) which was introduced in Exchange 2010 for mailbox replication.

In addition to agile Outlook access to Public Folders, end users will also notice the ability to search the content in Public Folders as well as the attachments. VAR Dynamics has enabled partners the option of creating multiple top-level Public Folders in order to achieve a feature set that meets the needs of all partners and customers. End users will be pleased to find that Modern Public Folders are now accessible via Outlook Web App (OWA) as well.

VAR Dynamics’ Channel Partners can now confidently offer Public Folders to customers migrating to the Cloud from older Exchange platforms without disclaimers on functionality. Legacy Public Folder data can now be easily migrated without the use of expensive 3^rd party applications. If the Modern Public Folder has been mistakenly deleted by the end user, a Partner can recover the folder just as they would a mailbox.
