Toyota Motor Sales No. 1 Retail Manufacturer in January 2014

FOX LAKE, Ill. - Feb. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- Toyota Motor Sales reported sales numbers of 146,365 units for January 2014. The Toyota division of Toyota Motor Sales posted January 2014 results of 128,728 units sold. Despite the strong numbers, the sales numbers recorded are down 9% from a year ago. Part of that, according to Bill Fay, Toyota division group vice president and general manager, is the fact that the wintery weather conditions across the country slowed sales in select key markets. Yet Fay said Toyota was pleased with sales results and they expect to see February display sales growth.

Highlights for the Toyota division in the month of January includes the new Toyota Corolla recording sales figures of over 22,700 units, the new Highlander sales being up nearly 21% from 2013 with 10,676 units sold, and the RAV4 posting a sales increase of 45% from a year ago with 16,880 units having been sold.

The Lexus division of Toyota Motor Sales saw positive results after the first month of 2014, reporting sales results of 17,637 units, which is an 8.8% increase from 2013. Jeff Bracken, Lexus group vice president and general manager, attributed the success to the “great selling lineup of luxury utility vehicles” as well as another strong sales month from the Lexus IS.

The Lexus luxury utility vehicles saw sales increase of 15% from 2013 and the new IS posted gains of nearly 120%. Other Lexus highlights include sales increases of the Lexus RX (up close to 4%), Lexus GX (up almost 97%), and Lexus LX (up more than 7%).
