BOSTON - Feb. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- BG Events and Catering, a Boston-area full-service catering and event planning company, is proud to announce the promotion of former Sous Chef Ian A. Ballantyne to the Head Chef position. With the company’s focus on setting trends in 2014, Chef Ballantyne brings a level of creativity and understanding of culinary arts to BG Events and Catering that will go unmatched in the industry.

A true foodie, Chef Ballantyne has accumulated more than seven years of knowledge and experience in the culinary industry, the last two of which he spent with BG Events and Catering. With previous positions at several prestigious Boston institutions including Gourmet Caterers, the Marliave Group, and the Vintage Lounge, as well Rendezvous in Cambridge and the Brae Burn County Club in Newton, Chef Ballantyne has led an impressive career.  His experience has allowed him to gather all of the skills that he now brings to the tables of BG Events and Catering clients.

Chef Ballantyne graduated from the New England Culinary Institute of Montpelier, Vermont, with an Associates of Science Degree in Culinary Arts. Accompanying that degree, Chef Ballantyne is also Servsafe Certified.

"Ian was a natural fit for this position because he is very familiar with our style and approach to innovative cuisine and industry leading trends," said Charlie Bougas, owner of BG Events and Catering. "We couldn't be happier to have him fill the role of Head Chef."

BG Events and Catering knows that what was once old is now new again. The company is still seeing the need for renovated classics which are prepared with amazing techniques, yet look approachable and are a delicacy for all. Current trends with which Chef Ian and the rest of the staff will work include chef table and pod presentations, and poultry prepared in contemporary methods with ancient grains like faro and quinoa.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to work with BG to help set the trends in the industry,” said Chef Ian. “We have a lot of exciting things that we’re working on, items and new ideas that our clients are going to love, and it’s going to be a great experience to help in my new capacity.”
