Helping Parents Turn that Spring Break Nightmare into a Dream Come True

Lifestyle expert shares her "magic suitcase" that eases the pain of family travel time.

CALGARY, Alberta - Feb. 10, 2014 - PRLog -- Ahhh, spring break. That time of year when children across the country cry with delight at the thought of ditching the books for a week, and parents scream in terror at the prospect of having to entertain their kids when still in the midst of winter. It's little wonder that many parents opt to travel during the break. But while warmer climes may lessen parents' cabin fever, travel brings with it a whole other host of kid-sized stresses. But lifestyle expert, author, and frequent flyer, Tina O'Connor knows there is an easier way to travel with family in tow.

"It needn't be nearly as stressful as we make it. The problem is that most of us just plop an empty suitcase on the bed and fill 'er up, without really thinking about it," says O'Connor, herself the mother of three young children and the author of Be That Mom. "What happens then is you end up over-packing things you don't really need, and under-packing the things you do."

Through her own trial and error Tina has developed what she likes to think of as the 'magic suitcase' approach to packing. It's has less to do with the world of Harry Potter than it does with basic geometry and getting the right organizers.

"By using packing cubes and designated organizers you're going to have exactly what you  need every time. It's a bit like playing luggage tetris! You need to figure out what shapes and sizes are going to actually fit in your suitcase. Once you've done it once, you never have to do it again, you'll always know, even on your return trip, what space you have available in your suitcase."

Tina recommends that each member of the family have their own set of luggage and organizers, each designated for specific items. Her 'magic suitcase' demos have proven popular with both parents and children, as it allows for older kids to participate in their own travel preparations.

A huge host of travelling tips are available in Be That Mom, available from new hybrid publishing house Be That Books Publishing, as well as at Tina's website:www.bethatbooks.com (https://www.mailoutinteractive.com/Industry/Redirect.aspx...)
