By: Robert Lauri & Mitch Hiller Robert and Mitch are old friends but it's a long time since they worked together. They collaborated together on the album State of Mind, released last year. This new duet demonstrates the talents of both artists; Robert's haunting music with Mitch's powerful lyrics but also Robert and Mitch impress us with the exceptional colours of their voices. The single features two talented artists who also collaborated on the album State of Mind : Nashville's jazz artist Diane Marino's and her flawless piano skills and the exceptional bass playing of Nashville's Frank Marino. The innovative guitar work is of Parisienne Pierre Chereze. Lyrics Chasing the Mem’ries away Amid the raindrops of my past Was some sun that didn’t last, It came and faded much too fast The song was sung, the dye was cast. The melody goes round my head Words I heard, the things you said. The waterfall of tears we shed And friends I loved have turned and fled Chasing the mem’ries away, Scared of the price that I pay, Let them take it, let them break it I believe but I just cannot Pray. Chasing the mem’ries away Laughing at what people say First they hurt you, then desert you Then they come back and do it next day. The child turns quickly to the man And still he cannot understand Why nothing goes the way he planned And why there is no Promised Land And I’m resigned to acting cool Thinking big but feeling small While deep inside I’m just a fool For no one really knows the rules Chasing the mem’ries away, Scared of the price that I pay, Let them take it, let them break it I believe but I just cannot Pray. Chasing the mem’ries away Laughing at what people say First they hurt you, then desert you Then they come back and do it next day. ©2013 Mitch Hiller http://www.youtube.com/ End
