By: UA Center for Family Studies The topic of Dr. Katz's lecture will be his first book, "The Macho Paradox: Why Some Men Hurt Women and How All Men Can Help", focusing on what men can do to prevent sexual violence against women. Jackson Katz, Ph.D., is one of America's leading anti-sexist male activists. As an educator, author, filmmaker, and cultural theorist, he is internationally recognized for his groundbreaking work in the field of gender violence prevention education and critical media literacy. He is cofounder of Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP), one of the original "bystander" programs and the most widely utilized sexual and domestic violence prevention initiative in college and professional athletics in North America. He is the creator of the film "Tough Guise" and author of "The Macho Paradox: Why Some Men Hurt Women and How All Men Can Help," and "Leading Men: Presidential Campaigns and the Politics of Manhood."
