Accuform Introduces New ANSI-ISO Safety SignsBy: accuform signs The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has updated its workplace safety sign and tag regulations by adding to the longstanding 29 CFR 1910.145 specifications for accident prevention signs with specific portions of ANSI’s Z535 standard. “These solutions provide an equal or greater level of safety regarding signage,” said Chief Executive Officer, Wayne Johnson. “And Accuform has gone a step further by incorporating the use of ISO pictograms to this line of signage as well.” International Organization for Standardization (ISO) signs and labels are distinguished by shapes and colors, making them easily understood across most language barriers. Accuform President Dave Johnson added, “Previously, OSHA had allowed the use of the ANSI Z535 standards without a fine or violation, but OSHA inspectors would document their use as a de minimis condition during an inspection - de minimis being different than the standard, but with no direct or immediate relationship to safety or health.” He continued, “With its inclusion into the standard, a de minimis condition no longer exists when using the ANSI-style signs and the OSHA final ruling ultimately gives employers another option to comply with OSHA’s existing signage standards while not increasing the cost of compliance.” Accuform currently carries over forty ANSI-ISO Safety Sign legends and expansion of the stock offering is expected with customization available for any type of safety sign.
