The Jamm story
Jamm was founded in 2011 in St Ives, Cornwall, after Marc and Coralie’s three-year-old son, Oscar,
jammed his fingers in a door at home.
He’s not alone. In the UK, over 28,000 children visit hospital every year with injuries to their
fingers from doors and door frames. Nearly half of those children are under the age of four and it
is this age group that is most likely to suffer the most serious injuries including those requiring
amputation. And protecting little fingers from the hinge side of a door is even more important than
the handle side – a closing door creates 40 tonnes of pressure at the hinge side, 20 times more than
a crocodile’s jaw!
After Oscar’s accident, the hunt for a reliable doorstop that would jam their doors in both
directions proved fruitless. Traditional doorstops are wedge shaped and only hold the door in one
direction.
So ‘dadpreneur’ Marc set about inventing a new kind of doorstop that could be trusted 100% to jam
a door in both directions. After 18 months and 14 prototypes the Jamm doorstop was born. With a
unique and patented design, doors sit snug in a curved ‘trough’, fully jammed in either direction.
All it takes is a quick slide under the front edge of the open door and a grown-up push!
From the start, Marc was determined to create a UK designed and manufactured product which
could protect little fingers worldwide. The hard work is paying off. In the UK, Jamm doorstops are
stocked in 80 Toys R Us stores and selected independent nursery stores, and online at Amazon,
Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury’s, ToysRus and BabiesRus. They are also distributed in North America, Hong
Kong, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Spain and Italy.
They are manufactured in the UK to ISO9001 standards, from food grade plastic, and come in five
funky colours. The packaging is Eco friendly, with no glue, staples or plastic, and the instructions
for safe use are printed on the inside of the packaging, so it’s designed to be kept, not dumped.

Marc’s been busy since inventing the Jamm Door Stop. He’s also invented the Egg Roller, a kitchen
counter gadget for storing eggs that cleverly rotates the eggs, keeping them in order, and fresher
for longer. And with three new products in development, there’s more to come. The facts
