Single Steps In A Married World by Ann Haney is a book about a woman's journey to discover her value as an individual and fulfill the God-given call placed on her life.  Every woman, whether single, married, separated, divorced or widowed, must take "single steps" with her maker to find her value and fulfill her purpose.

God has placed a specific call on every individual’s life. Women often feel it is completely wrapped up in being a mother and wife. She is often left with an empty longing to do more, but suppresses this feeling discounting it as self-gratification. Women often strive harder to be better mothers & wives, but the feeling of incompleteness remains. There is often a void that asks, “Who am I?” Although raising children & being a wife is an honorable duty which God has placed on the lives of many women, they often believe it to be their only purpose. I have heard it said “a woman who can run a household can run a corporation.” Home is truly the training ground for excellence, but excellence is not meant to be bottled between four walls. God has equipped women to be world changers, bringing hope, healing & purpose to the lives of others. This is not to suggest all women are meant to run corporations, but that all women have individual purposes placed on their lives that go beyond the four walls of their homes. Purpose should be the primary focus-knowing who you are in Christ. Business is secondary—knowing what you were called to do and being busy about your Father’s business. Until value is discovered purpose cannot be uncovered.

         In this search for value and purpose many women find themselves at a crossroads of complacency as they measure their abilities by what society has determined acceptable for them. They often develop insecurities keeping them from fulfilling the call God has placed on their lives. Society has directly attacked the value & purpose of women today instilling this insecurity & loss of purpose. This attack of the enemy has penetrated into the lives of many single, married, separated, divorced and widowed women. Her confidence has been compromised & her direction distorted. For many, her longing to love & be loved has placed her as a codependent on man, extinguishing her purpose as an individual. Unknowingly, her desire to love & be loved has become a captivity she struggles to break free from. Satan has found a way to distort love in its intended purpose. But, God cradles his daughter “to grant consolation and joy to those who mourn...to give them beauty instead of ashes, joy for mourning, the garment of praise instead of a heavy, burdened and failing spirit—that they may be called oaks of righteousness the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” Isaiah 16:3-4

Women, it is time we take our positions in Christ and live the life we were called to, equipping ourselves with strength from God, & with God & for God rebuild the devastation which has for far too long imprisoned the purpose and value of women. Our journey doesn’t end with discovering our value, but through this discovery building a foundation for upcoming generations.
