Follow on Google News | Technocrane Inc. Announces Two New Lines of Marine CranesBy: Uppgroup Inc. Todd Slobogean, CEO of Technocrane says “The BIGMAX and Amco Veba marine cranes have many excellent features not typically found in the under 40 tonne/meter class. These features include a rugged oil bath rotation system, dual rack and pinion slewing, standup pedestal controls, and three levels of marinization. In addition, both the BIGMAX and the Amco Veba marine cranes have heavy duty lift cylinders similar to those used on large excavators. The cylinders have threaded steel cylinder heads, rather than cylinder heads held in place with snap rings.” Technocrane’ “Technocrane is pleased to offer the two new lines of marine cranes to complement their BIGMAX truck mounted cranes. The new lines of marine cranes are considerably different than their truck crane cousins”. Slobogean notes, “Generally using a conventional truck crane for a marine application is not the best solution. Because a truck crane is designed to mount on a truck frame, the control valve assembly has to be raised and relocated and the hoses need to be lengthened.” Slobogean says, “Corrosion proofing on truck cranes is not sufficient. Regular industrial paint and standard piston rod chroming that is adequate for truck cranes quickly deteriorates when exposed to a corrosive marine environment. Also, the slewing systems are not powerful or robust enough to rotate the crane mounted on an unstable floating vessel.” Technocrane has actively supplied cranes to the marine industry since 1990. Customers include the Canadian Coast Guard, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and military patrol, as well as operators of commercial vessels including fishing, aquaculture, tugs, crab boats, fire and emergency response boats.
