NEW YORK - March 12, 2014 - PRLog -- Producers, Anne O’Shea and Brian Quattrini of Minerva Productions are delighted to premiere another film at the Tribeca Film Festival, Life Partners! In 2012, they received critical acclaim with the US World Premiere of the fact-based controversial drama, Any Day Now, starring Alan Cumming (“The Good Wife”, X2, GoldenEye) and Garrett Dillahunt (“Raising Hope”, No Country for Old Men). Directed by Travis Fine (The Space Between), Any Day Now was awarded the Heineken Audience Award for Best Narrative Film and went on to receive eighteen wins at festivals across the world as well as the Media Award for Outstanding Film – Limited Release at the 2013 GLAAD Awards.

Directed by Susan Fogel, co-written alongside Joni Lefkowitz and produced in conjunction with Haven Entertainment and Sandia Media, Life Partners, starring Leighton Meester, Gillian Jacobs and Adam Brody tells the story of straight “Paige” (Jacobs) and lesbian “Sasha” (Meester), co-dependent best friends in their late 20s that have spent the last ten years acting more like wives than friends. Paige and Sasha encourage one another to meet romantic partners, but as part of a generation that is encouraged not to settle, they’re pretty content with each other as de facto spouses, until the night Paige meets “Tim” (Brody). Despite some superficial drawbacks, he’s the kind of guy you marry. As Paige and Tim’s relationship grows, the bond between Paige and Sasha inevitably shifts. Paige struggles to balance the person who has held the primary role in her life for years with someone who is assuming that role more and more each day. Sasha, meanwhile, can’t help feeling like she’s just been dumped. Suddenly without a “partner,” she’s left to examine her own shortcomings and panic about her impending 30th birthday. Passive-aggression brews in their friendship until the girls must finally confront the question they’ve been avoiding: can their friendship survive growing up? Life Partners will premiere on Friday, April 18th.

Anne O’Shea, the founder of Minerva Productions not only produced the film but also plays Nora, Sasha’s boss. This was an eye-opening experience for her, she says, “I had the best time working on Life Partners because I felt so connected to my girls and the subject matter from the very beginning! In fact I often thought of my best friend Mary Anne and how similar our stories were to the LP girls. The entire LP team brought me on board and gave me far more than just a chair and headset; they gave me tasks and gently taught me and made me feel like they valued my contribution every single day! I learned so much from all of them and every single early morning and late night was worth it! I was actually glad my scenes were the first day so that I could get down to the business of being an EP! But you really learn who a director is when she uh directs you! I knew from that first day we had a winner in Susanna! Love, love!”

Minerva Productions is best known for the critically acclaimed, Golden Globe Winning and Oscar Nominated Film, The Kids Are All Right, starring Annette Bening and Julianne Moore. However, recent successes have secured their name and work among the best in the Independent Film World including What Maisie Knew, starring Julianne Moore and Alexander Skarsgard and Girl Most Likely, starring Kristen Wiig and Annette Bening, both of which premiered at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival.

Minerva’s past films include Goats with David Duchovney and Vera Farmiga, The Whistleblower, starring Rachel Weisz and Another Happy Day starring Ellen Barkin, Demi Moore, and Kate Bosworth.
