Cade, Silver Spring; Miss Nahja S. Franklin, Washington, D.C.; Miss Elana M. Harris, Silver Spring; Mister Xavier D. Hill, Rockville; Mister Adam G. Hollins, Adelphi; Miss Demetrea L. Joyner, Laurel; Mister Augusto D. Macedo, Jr., Olney; Mister Demitri N. McCray-Buggs, Burtonsville; The evening will include a cocktail hour, dinner and dancing. The presentation of the debutantes and beaux by their parents will occur at 8 p.m. Media may request credentials via e-mail at jjmcmcgoldlegacy@ The Ball is the culmination of an eight-month program designed to promote high self-esteem and standards, strong morals and values, continuous education, refined social skills, respect, service and friendship among these young men and women. Participants have performed hours of community service; taken part in workshops designed to improve leadership skills; and met with community and business leaders. The Debutantes and Beaux also raised thousands of dollars through the sale of advertisements for the event’s Souvenir Journal, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the National Center for Children and Families and the Jack and Jill of America Foundation. Jack and Jill of America, Inc., founded in 1938, is the oldest and largest African American family organization in the U.S., with more than 200 chapters nationwide. The Montgomery County Maryland Chapter was chartered in 1962 and has become an integral part of the Montgomery County community, exposing children to educational and cultural opportunities, extolling the importance of community service, and helping them develop leadership skills and life-long friendships.
