By: ACES (Autism Comprehensive Educational Services) Farmer is the first teacher in the state of California to use a blend of therapeutic, educational and behavioral techniques to achieve the best outcomes for her students. Her community philanthropy is far-reaching and includes causes like the Girl Scouts, San Diego American School, Autism Society San Diego County, Autism Speaks, Camp I Can, Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund, artist Mackenzie Thorpe, the San Diego Police Foundation, Open Door Preschools in Austin TX, The Warren Center in Richardson TX, Highland Park United Methodist Church, and Purses With a Purpose for Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Dallas, providing free financial education and counseling for women and families in special need . On May 8 and 9 2014 she will participate in the Healthcare track of the World Diplomatic Forum held at UCSD's Rady School of Management. The event is hosted by the Ambassadorial Roundtable and is welcoming many ambassadors from around the world as well as international leaders in sustainable Education, Healthcare, Business, Defense, Clean Tech, Hospitality, Luxury, Cyber Security, Bio Pharm, and Finance. Ms. Farmer's longtime support of women and girls began with her participation in the Girl Scouts and blossomed into membership in the largest fraternal women's organization in the world, the Chi Omega Sorority. A champion of education, she earned a Bachelors of Education from the University of Oklahoma and a Masters in Special Education from the University of North Texas. When she was 41, she was the first female graduate of UNT to have a building named in her honor: the Kristin Farmer Autism Center. Her leadership at ACES has provided employment to thousands of special educators in the much-needed service of children with autism. A dedicated mother of two, she shares her learnings about effective parenting on her blog and expertly participates in numerous social causes. Honored with a Living Legacy Award by the Women's International Center - a 30 year old non-profit organization dedicated to Honoring, Encouraging, Celebrating and Educating Women – Ms. Farmer was joined at the event by multi-Grammy award winning recording artist Rita Coolidge, Emmy award winning Lee Ann Kim and many others in support of international Sisterships.
