By: Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort Chair 2, a double chairlift, has been transporting skiers to the Lower West Bowl, The Line, The Strip Terrain Park and other popular intermediate and advanced trails at LVSSR for the last 32 years. It will be replaced with a modern Doppelmayr quad chairlift. This project also includes regrading of the base area and relocating the bottom terminals of both Chair 2 and Chair 1 to allow for easier loading and access to intermediate and advanced terrain. Construction will begin on Monday, April 7 and be complete in time for opening day of the 2014/15 season scheduled for Friday, November 28, 2014, weather permitting. Due to construction, LVSSR will not open for summer activities until July 4, 2014. “The new chairlift will dramatically improve the experience for guests who want to spend all day on the slopes because it will mean less time in line and on the chair,” said Kevin Stickelman, LVSSR’s president and general manager. “The upgrade is one of many in our Master Development Plan, which will continue to improve upon LVSSR’s reputation as a winter ‘must do’ for local and visiting families.” In celebration of this project, LVSSR is offering lift tickets for only $19.82 (the first year Chair 2 was in service) on closing day, April 6, 2014. Skiers and snowboarders can bid farewell to Chair 2 by filling as many seats on the chair and taking the last run of the season together at 3:45pm on closing day. End
