BRIGHTON, U.K. - April 10, 2014 - PRLog -- The Virtual Doctor Project (VDP), a fledgling telemedicine charity based in Brighton, is pleased to announce the expansion of their fundraising capacity with the addition of new Trustee Rosalyn Bird.  Currently operating in Zambia, VDP aims to expand into Tanzania later this year.

Ros is a Fundraising Manager with over 20 years’ experience working with large and small charities in South East and South London areas, including the NSPCC.  She has worked within Legacy, Direct Donor Marketing, Stewardship, E-Fundraising and National Corporate Partnerships markets, and will be helping VDP to develop their fundraising scope and strategy.  A member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Institute of Fundraising, Ros is an active ambassador and mentor in the not for profit sector.

“We are building our fundraising capacity,” said Paul Mustardé, VDP Executive Director (Operations) and Co-Founder.  “The aim is to raise funds through a number of routes including corporate partnerships and also a fundraising safari walking tour in Zambia.”  He added, “We hope to raise enough to enable us to enter into a partnership with an existing NGO in Tanzania called the People’s Development Forum to set up the VDP there.”

VDP currently offers telemedicine support in the Chongwe and Chilanga districts of central Zambia.  Using mobile broadband networks, VDP connects rural clinics with doctors around the world for diagnostic and treatment advice.  All medical personnel donate their time for free to help some of the world’s poorest communities.
