Rock Square Teams Up with Artist Mark Baker to Support Annual John Varvatos Stuart House Benefit

LOS ANGELES - April 10, 2014 - PRLog -- Los Angeles-based startup Rock Square® (www.rocksquare.com), the world’s only social commerce platform devoted to rock ‘n’ roll, has collaborated with renowned portrait artist Mark Baker in support of The 11^th Annual John Varvatos Stuart House Benefit. The event, sponsored by the swank menswear designer, seeks to raise money for The Stuart House, a program created by the Rape Treatment Foundation at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center. The Stuart House serves the special needs of sexually abused children by providing victims with comprehensive treatment including specialized medical care, law enforcement and forensic assistance, crisis counseling and long-term psychotherapy.

Every year Los Angeles’ elite come together to benefit the internationally celebrated program. 2013’s star-studded event, presented by Chrysler, co-chaired by Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, raised $950,000 by treating its 1,500 guests to an afternoon of shopping, good eats, live and silent auctions – and of course a little rock ‘n’ roll. Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry took to the stage with special guest Slash to entertain patrons with an intimate performance.

This year’s benefit will take place Sunday, April 13^th at the John Varvatos boutique on Melrose Ave. in West Hollywood and is scheduled to include a special performance by Willie Nelson & Sons. By virtue of this special cause, Rock Square® has worked in collaboration with Mark Baker to offer an inspiring portrait of John Lennon to be auctioned off during the event. Rock Square Founder/CEO, Paul Scharfe, will be in attendance to support The Stuart House. “Mark’s art celebrates the powerful nature of music and we are proud to offer this portrait for such a worthwhile cause,” said Scharfe.

Mark Baker has established himself internationally through his emotive photorealistic portraits of music and pop culture icons, and has been featured in the Rock Square marketplace and community where his art reaches a global audience of music fans in more than 65 countries. “Lennon is a symbol of peace, love, and hope, so he was the ideal choice,” said Baker of his print. “I am a parent myself and always feel that children’s charities are the most important in my eyes… If I can help in some small way, that’s great.”
