Follow on Google News | Congratulations to Tony Flood, MyVoice author, on winning an award, Resident of the YearThis was in recognition of his books with My Voice Publishing, together with his work as chairman of Anderida Writers, joint leader, with his wife Heather, of the Creative Writing Group held by Alice Croft House Over 50s Club, and being the oldest playing member of Sovereign Harbour Vets Football Club. Tony, formerly the Controller of Information at Sky Television and a Fleet Street journalist, is the author of celebrity book My Life With The Stars and fantasy adventure The Secret Potion, both of which have been recommended by actress June Whitfield. He will be giving a talk about the secrets of stars he has interviewed at the Underground Theatre, in Grove Road, Eastbourne (underneath the Eastbourne Library) on Saturday June 7th at 2pm, featuring laugh-out-loud anecdotes and revelations about Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Joan Collins, The Beatles, George Best, Muhammad Ali and a host of other famous personalities. Tony has followed in the footsteps of fellow Anderida member Dorit Oliver Wolff, who won a similar highly commended award in the same Resident of the Year category last year. The presentation to Tony of a framed certificate, sponsored by advanta, was made by Malcolm Tonghill at the Achievers Awards ceremony and dinner at the Winter Garden. Tony said: "My Voice Publishing has played a big part in my success and their MD Rex Sumner deserves a big pat on the back for helping new authors to get published." “I would like to thank fellow writers Dave Wells and Francis Wait for nominating me and another author, Elizabeth Wright, for giving me a very favourable mention in her nomination of Anderida Writers in the groups section. I would like to share the award with my wife Heather who also holds a lot of workshops to help members of the Alice Croft House Creative Writing group to improve their writing skills and also become published authors.
