Metal Technology Uses 3D Metal Printing To Speed Up Racecar Design

ALBANY, Ore. - May 27, 2014 - PRLog -- ALBANY, OR - May 27, 2014—English Racing has selected Metal Technology (MTI) to help them provide cutting edge design and manufacturing to support their 1/2 mile trap speed racing initiatives.

The world of 1/2 mile side-by-side roll racing and trap speed competition is one of dedication, passion and excitement.  It’s a world in which the smallest changes and innovations can mean the difference between victory and defeat at speeds of over 200 miles per hour.

When English Racing was having trouble with excessive oil pressure at extreme RPM’s on their 4G63 racing engines they partnered with Metal Technology in Albany Oregon to rapid prototype an oil pump underdrive gear. MTI printed a prototype gear on their ProX 300 Direct Metal Sintering (DMS) 3D printer with only a few days lead time so it could be tested at the Shift Sector Airstrip Attack where it performed flawlessly at speeds exceeding 180 MPH at over 9500 RPM.
