"Actor. Writer. Whatever." only Book of the Year Award Finalist in “Humor” & “Essay” Categories

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - May 30, 2014 - PRLog -- Mellini Kantayya’s debut humor essay collection Actor. Writer. Whatever. (essays on my rise to the top of the bottom of the entertainment industry) is a finalist in Foreword Reviews 16th Annual Book of the Year Awards.

It is the only book to be a finalist in both the “Humor” and “Essay” categories.



Each year, Foreword Reviews, the premier magazine dedicated to discovering new indie books, shines a light on a small group of indie authors and publishers whose groundbreaking work stands out from the crowd.



“I am thrilled and deeply honored—it’s like getting into the Sundance Film Festival of books,” Kantayya said. “And to be a finalist in not one but two categories? As a writer I’m embarrassed to say the only word I can come up with is wow. Just wow.”



Kantayya’s critically acclaimed essay collection explores what drives and plagues creative souls of all stripes, and the pinnacles and pitfalls of pursuing those artistic ambitions in New York City.

A panel of over 100 librarians and booksellers will determine the winners of these prestigious awards. Announcement of the winners will take place during the American Library Association Annual Conference in Las Vegas on Friday, June 27 at 6 p.m. and will be made simultaneously via Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, and the Foreword Reviews website.
