Follow on Google News | Rare, 1942 Harley Davidson Hits Auction BlockDraws International Attention from Motorcycle Collectors Worldwide
By: SoldASAP.com, Tasabah & Associates, LLC The auction, called the Dr. George A. Renaker Collection, is open for bidding on soldasap.com through June 12. Auctioneer John Malone has received inquiries from Harley fans worldwide. “I’ve talked with people from across the U.S., Dubai, Japan, England, and Germany,” he said. Malone said he isn’t surprised that the Harley-Davidson is receiving international attention. “The Harley is one of 107 produced,” he said. “The bike is extremely rare and appears to be all original with period accessories.” In addition to the Harley’s rarity, Malone said its original condition appeals to many collectors. “We are selling this bike as we found it. The dust, grease, wear and tear are all yours,” Malone said. “We were too afraid to make it shine.” Malone is unsure how many of the 107 motorcycles produced still exist. “After hundreds of hours searching, we couldn't find a single one,” he said. The Harley features a 74ci medium compression Knucklehead OHV V-twin engine and four-speed transmission. The color is Flight Red. Dr. Renaker passed away in March at the age of 80. Locals speak highly of the renowned doctor who practiced medicine for over 44 years in northern Kentucky. Dr. Renaker performed over 40,000 surgeries, earning him the nickname "King George" in the operating room. He enjoyed restoring classic vehicles and could often be seen riding his treasured Harley-Davidson around Florence. Other vehicles on the auction block include Dr. Renaker’s 1967 Corvette Stingray Convertible, 1953 MG-TD Convertible, 1981 DeLorean, 1981 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit, 1956 Ford Thunderbird, 1970 Jaguar E Type, and many other classic models. The auction also includes several of his collectible items such as Italian marble statues, a vintage pinball machine, a vintage arcade bowling game, and a 1930s slot machine.
