UPPER DARBY, Pa. - June 16, 2014 - PRLog -- Work experience can translate into a head start on a degree in Early Childhood Education with Prism Career Institute.  Prism Career Institute announces its new schedule for the Early Childhood Education Degree Program, catering to the needs of individuals already working in the field who are seeking a degree.

“This will result in a savings in both time and money for these individuals as they pursue Prism’s Associate in Specialized Business Degree in Early Childhood Education,” said Jeff Mann, campus director of Prism Career Institute in Upper Darby, Pa.

This new schedule allows employees of day care centers and other early childhood education providers to continue working while they pursue a degree.  Students that have been employed for six months and also have a recommendation letter from their supervisor will receive work credit in lieu of practicum courses, reducing the length of the program by as many as 360 hours, resulting in significant financial savings.

The Prism Early Childhood Education program is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career School and Colleges (ACCSC) and recognized by Keystone Stars. Prism Career Institute is also a member of PACCA (Pennsylvania Child care Association).

According to the National Education Association (NEA), research shows that providing a high quality education for children before they turn five yields significant long-term benefits, including the likelihood of graduating from high school, owning a home, having a longer marriage and earning potential of up to $2,000 more each month.

The Early Childhood Education program at Prism Career Institute prepares graduates with the skills necessary to enter the childcare and education fields.  The program is designed to provide experience in preparing curricula and lessons and understanding the physical, emotional and intellectual development of young children.  Students will gain practical hands-on experience in classrooms and childcare settings, helping young children learn, grow and gain new skills that can provide for a satisfying and rewarding career.

Employment of licensed childcare workers is projected to grow 14 percent through 2022, with more than 180,000 jobs added as compared to employment numbers in 2012.
