Follow on Google News | Georgia Young Republicans Gather for 2014 State ConventionThe Georgia Young Republicans recently held their annual State Convention on Friday, June 13 through Saturday, June 14 in Savannah, GA.
Convention speakers included Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black, Todd Rehm of GA Pundit, and Rob Lee of 2G Strategies. Many YRs attending participated in pre-convention leadership training and roundtable discussions to help shape the vision for future YR organizations in Georgia. The Georgia Young Republicans also wish to thank the GA GOP for sending GYR liaison Brad Hughes to share the latest news from the state party. Within new business a resolution was adopted in support of SR 415 sponsored by President Pro Tempore David Shafer, which would cap the state income tax at 6%. “In 2014 the Georgia Young Republicans are well positioned to empower YR chapters at the local level and continue to align in strategic relationships with the Georgia Republican Party,” says Meagan Myers Hanson, Chairman of GYR. “We see strong enthusiasm among YRs looking to volunteer and make an impact at the local, state, and national levels.” Of special note, the GYR State Convention Awards Committee recognized State Representative Regina Quick as Legislator of the Year for her unwavering support in the YR community and contributions to the state legislature.
