Kids Alive International Named Among Top 1% of Charities

Charity Navigator awards their highest rating of 4-stars to Kids Alive International for the twelfth consecutive year.

VALPARAISO, Ind. - June 23, 2014 - PRLog -- Kids Alive International of Valparaiso, Indiana has been awarded top ranking by Charity Navigator, America’s largest and most-recognized evaluator of charities.  This prestigious, 4-star rating is awarded for good governance, sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency.

“Even more gratifying,” according to Cliff Peterson, Chair of Kids Alive International Board of Directors, “is the fact that Kids Alive has earned this distinction for 12 consecutive years.  This reflects the outstanding dedication and commitment to the mission of rescuing and caring for needy children by our staff here in Valparaiso and around the world.”

Al Lackey, Kids Alive president for the past 18 years, reflected that “because ‘what’ we do through Kids Alive is so important, this recognition for ‘how’ we do it is especially encouraging.  We start by rescuing orphans and vulnerable children.  Then we provide loving homes and promising futures for these girls and boys who have nowhere else to turn.  Accomplishing all that with integrity and Christian compassion is essential to our mission as an organization.”

Kids Alive International is about to celebrate one hundred years of ministry.  Founded by missionaries in China in 1916, today its impact stretches across the world with more than 50 ministries in 14 different countries.  And summarized  in the organization’s mission statement, “Kids Alive International reflects the love of Christ by rescuing orphans and vulnerable children, nurturing them with quality, holistic care, and sharing with them the transforming power of Jesus Christ so they are enabled to give hope to others.”  For more information, visit http://www.kidsalive.org

Charity Navigator, as an independent evaluator of charities, provides donors accurate information on more than 5,000 charities nationwide.  It scores each charity on important factors like what percentage of funds go to ministry programs verses administration and fund-raising costs.  It also monitors long-term financial health.  After thorough evaluation, Charity Navigator then assigns a star rating from one to four, with four-star being the best rating.
