Dear recently relocated to Charlotte from the Northern Virginia/Washington, D.C. area, where he maintained an independent practice for more than 20 years.

After graduating from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting, Dear began his career in Atlanta, GA., working for an international Certified Public Accounting firm.  He later relocated to Fairfax, VA., where he served as chief financial officer for a public REIT. He subsequently established his own firm in the Virginia/Washington, D.C., area, serving a range of corporate and individual clients.  A licensed CPA in both North Carolina and Virginia, he is a member of the North Carolina Association for Certified Public Accountants and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants.

In recent years, Dear has worked to blend his experience in taxation and finance with that of a financial advisor in order to broaden and enhance successful financial planning for his clients.

A Life member of Kiwanis International, Dear is a former chapter president and former Lt. Governor of Kiwanis International in Northern Virginia and is currently active with the Kiwanis Club of Charlotte.  He also supports the American Red Cross, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, and has served various other organizations addressing mental health issues in the community.
