B&B Laboratories Begins Distribution of Bio-Based Propylene Glycol PG

HOUSTON - June 30, 2014 - PRLog -- , Bio-Based PG Inc., in partnership with Carrollwood based B&B Laboratories, LLC, began domestic and global distribution of Bio-based propylene glycol.  Bio-based propylene glycol is the long awaited alternative to petroleum-based propylene glycol - until recently all propylene glycol was a byproduct of the petroleum industry and not necessarily made in the United States.

Daniel Q. Nguyen, head chemist at B&B Labs, LLC, explained, "I heard a plant based PG (propylene glycol) was being developed five years ago but no one was carrying it. The fact (that) it is made with botanicals, not petrol, is no more expensive than petrol derived PG, and the new bio-based PG is even USP, kosher and generally made here in the United States, it does not get any better than that!" Nguyen continued, "I was scratching my head with another associate as to why no one was selling it on a base level." B&B Labs, LLC, is a cosmetic and skincare manufacturer that services clients around the globe using state of the art technologies.

Bio-based PG has been welcome in formulation, but difficult to find. Therefore, Nguyen worked with Tampa, FL based Flavor Laboratories, Inc of Tampa, Florida to procure a tanker of plant based PG and formed Bio-Based PG, Inc.

Propylene glycol is in everything including food, agriculture feed stock, as well as cosmetic and skin care products. It is a carrier that is naturally antimicrobial which is also used as a humectant.   It is the only real economical food safe solvent recognized by the Food and Drug Administration for flavor creation and distribution.  "We are proud to sell this plant based USP (pharmaceutical grade) and kosher grade propylene glycol to the main stream; to large vendors as well as small. We sell in sizes as small as a gallon and as large as a tanker” explained Nguyen.
