Electric Motorcycle Races By Competition At America’s Mountain

LOS ANGELES - July 2, 2014 - PRLog -- Hollywood Electrics, Jeff Clark and Zero Motorcycles, leaders in all-electric motorcycles, made history on June 29, 2014, at the 92nd annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC). Electric vehicles won section and overall times across multiple major classes. Jeff Clark, #777, rode a 2013 Zero FX as the fastest electric motorcycle up the mountain. He is the first person to break the 12-minute barrier (11:59) on a production electric motorcycle. Jeff Clark and Hollywood Electrics are the first two-time winners on electric motorcycles at PPIHC.

Perhaps the most impressive stat is Jeff Clark’s Section 1 time (2:06), which bested all exhibition motorcycles- gas and electric- including Guy Martin, winner of the Exhibition Powersports Division.

Asked about how the race went, Jeff Clark said, “I had a couple of close calls, but at the end of the day bested my time from last year. So proud to be the fastest electric bike up America’s Mountain. Thanks to my crew and my sponsors, without whom I couldn’t have done it.”

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, which began in 1916, is the second oldest motorsports race in America and a long-standing tradition in the Colorado Springs region. The race takes place on a 12.42 mile course beginning at 9,390 feet with 156 turns and ending at the 14,115 foot summit of Pikes Peak, also known as “America’s Mountain”.
