By: PRONicaragua According to the study, Nicaragua represents savings of US$2.56 for every pair of women leather heels in comparison to industry leaders in every step of the production process, ranging from raw material, labor costs, and efficiency, to packaging, shipping, general expenses and import duties. The countries evaluated in the study were China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Dominican Republic and México. Among other unique advantages the country offers companies that require labor-intensive operations and are export-oriented is its strategic location in the center of the Americas with access to both oceans, preferential access to key international markets, one of the most competitive cost structures in the region, generous investment incentives, and high levels of personal safety. Nicaragua also meets all the necessary requirements to manufacture other types of footwear such as shoes with leather uppers (casual or fashion), a great variety of functional boots for industrial protection or outdoor activities, shoes and sandals made from different kinds of synthetic materials, and basic components and accessories to complete the value chain.
