By: BBS, Inc Boston Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization which builds and fixes affordable housing for low-income families. It is mainly funded by private donations from “individuals, community groups, corporations, charities, foundations, schools, and religious organizations.” Our CFO Andrea Anderson’s dad, Jon Anderson, has enthusiastically committed to participating in the annual Habitat 500 bike ride. This bike ride draws riders from all over the county and raises money for Habitat affiliates. The event is in its 21st year and runs July 14th through July 20th. The bike tour visits Habitat affiliates, worksites, and homeowners along the way and raises awareness about the need for decent, safe, and affordable housing. This years route starts in Becker, Minnesota and will visit cities in Northern Minnesota including Aitkin, Grand Rapids, Cromwell, and Mora. Local Habitat affiliates provide meals and serve as hosts for overnight stays. Each rider is required to raise a minimum of $1000 in donations prior to the event and designates which Habitat organization will receive the funds. Funds committed already total over $157,000! In the past 20 years the ride has donated over $5 million to Habitat. Jon will again ride for Wisconsin Rapids Area Habitat! Jon is a lifelong Wisconsin Rapids resident and has worked for the Wood County Sheriff’s Department since 1985. The event turned out to be a great success. All of our Sales Representatives attended along with some family and friends. Ryan Lambert, a top intern, commented, “It was great to see all of the employees having fun outside the office, I feel as though it generated a more personal connection between the employees beyond the office setting.” Michaela Clark, another top intern, shared a similar experience, she stated, “it was a great experience planning and following through with an event that brought our office together, and it also raised money for a charity which was a bonus.” BBS, Inc Boston could not be more proud of all of their employees who donated and attended this event. "This is what I love about our business, Co-workers having fun, raising awareness and giving back to the community. I feel more companies should give back and hopefully events like this, start a trend" said President of BBS, Inc, Vince Conley. About BBS, Inc.
