David Consulting Group Introduces New SNAP Consulting and Training Services

MALVERN, Pa. - July 15, 2014 - PRLog -- David Consulting Group (http://www.davidconsultinggroup.com), a global provider of software analytics, software quality management and Agile development solutions, was recently certified as an authorized provider of the Software Non-functional Assessment Process (SNAP) by the International Function Point Users Group (IFPUG).

Developed by IFPUG, the SNAP framework provides a quantifiable measure for the non-functional size of software, facilitating improved project planning, providing specific data regarding non-functional software issues, and quantifying the impacts of current software-related strategies.

The SNAP framework is relatively new, thus little data is available for benchmarks. To address this, DCG is building a repository of SNAP data (http://www.davidconsultinggroup.com/insights/snap-data/) that the company will analyze for performance information, to showcase the framework’s effectiveness and allow for improvement over time.

“Since our inception in 1994, DCG has been the premier provider of Function Point Analysis (FPA) services, and we believe that SNAP is a necessary complement to FPA, allowing for a comprehensive examination of software,” said Tom Cagley, Certified SNAP Practitioner and Vice President of Consulting for David Consulting Group. “However, for users of FPA, there is a wealth of benchmarks available to track performance – not so for SNAP. We encourage organizations using SNAP to participate in our repository for their benefit and for the general advancement of the SNAP framework.”

Any organization using SNAP can participate by submitting its information to DCG. In January and June of each year, DCG will publish highlights from the data, while providing a full report to all those who submit their information for analysis.
