A-List Education to Present at SREB Conference in Tennessee

July 16, 2014 - PRLog -- A-List Education will be presenting at the Southern Regional Education Board’s (SREB) 28th Annual Staff Development Conference in Nashville, Tennessee on July 16-19, 2014. A-List currently works with several Tennessee school districts, including Robertson, Hamilton and Wilson counties, and more than 250 nonprofit programs and schools, serving more than 30,000 students worldwide.

Scott Farber, President of A-List, will present “The SAT/ACT and the CCSSI: Teaching Cognitive and Noncognitive Skills Kids Need," which will center on college access and readiness for all students.  “With significant changes coming to the SAT, and an increasing focus by states and districts on what standardized tests like the ACT mean alongside the implementation of the Common Core, educators need the tools to evaluate and teach both academic and non-cognitive skills,” said Mr. Farber. His session will explore how to integrate targeted, essential instructional practices with an appreciation for what increasing evidence highlights is necessary to improve persistence and success rates once students leave high school. Participants will also develop appreciation and knowledge of recent case studies and scientific investigations, through works like Paul Tough’s How Children Succeed and Claude M. Steele’s Whistling Vivaldi.

A-List will also discuss how to collect and utilize data with its new Assessment and Content Portal. A low-cost, dynamic and rapid solution for providing analysis, the portal enables a new teaching paradigm. Schools need real time access to quantitative and qualitative student data to adapt curriculum to meet individual student needs.  “Success in school and life is about more than mastering content and standardized tests,” says Mr. Farber.  “As educators we need to rethink how to help our students develop skills beyond the traditional textbook and classroom.”
