Award-Winning “Sistahs” Author Vicki L. Ward to Hold Book Signing at Marcus Books

OAKLAND, Calif. - July 16, 2014 - PRLog -- Vicki L. Ward, author and collector of stories about the lives of bold, and accomplished mature women, has won another literary award for one of her books, “More of Life’s Spices – Seasoned Sistahs Keepin It Real.”  She and several contributors to the anthology will lead a presentation and hold a book signing at Marcus Books this coming Saturday, July 19^th, 5 PM to 7 PM.  The store, the oldest African American book store in the country, is located at 3900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Oakland.  Admission to the event is free.  The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

The book recently won an IndieFab Book Honorable Mention Award for Women’s Studies, Adult Nonfiction from Foreword Reviews, a national organization and magazine that focuses on the work of independent and university press authors and publishers.

“I’m very excited and thankful that the judges at Foreword Reviews found another of my books worthy of a literary award,” says Ward who is also founder and CEO of Nubian Images Publishing.  “I write and edit books about the lives of ‘seasoned’ older women of color.  But the stories are universal.  They reflect some of the joys and trials that all women will experience, if they live long enough.”
