What is it they won’t listen to? Forget about all the stuff that you think is important, “Mobile Users don’t read, they act.

No matter how we try it’s a never going to win battle with so many, they still want pages and pages, did I say “PAGES” of information, facts and figures, specifications, DNA, Results of their High School exams. Heck I think some would put there full family tree on the site if you let them.

Yes, we tell them that a lot has changed over the past years, people now have an aversion to stuff they don’t want to know about so your Mobile site better get straight to the point or its going to be game over and as soon as you can say, “Next” Potential customers will change to disgruntled searcher.

Times have changed and when that trumpet roars and a prospect arrives on your Mobile site and they are looking for a place to stay, a steak to eat, a beer to drink, a shoe to fit, a dress to impress, a car to drive, a plane to catch you better have just what they are looking for at the touch of ONE button or I promise you that will be all over faster than the referee can count to ten.

So let me try one more time.

When designing a Mobile website remember, “Less is Best”  shy away from the need to compete with Encyclopaedia Britannica or winning a Guinness record for the most amount of useless information.

Sit back, find a nice clean sheet of A4 Paper and Pen, or a Tablet that pretends to be paper and ask yourself what you would want to know if you were looking to buy an outfit, have dinner or go on a holiday.

I can guarantee it will be simple stuff like, are they close buy to where you are or where you want to be, do they have what you want, in the right colour or size, how much is it, do they have pictures, has anybody else raved about the place, how do you contact them. Let me see? That makes around 6 buttons you will need on a Mobile site, not 465.

When you have completed the task, turn the nice white but scribbled on page over (or refresh the TAB) and ask the same question of your business and write down the answers.

Guess what you have just done?

Created your new Mobile Site with buttons that will make people act not information that will put them to sleep.
