1st Annual Purple Jacket Golf Tournament | A Scholarship Fundraiser Event

RALEIGH, N.C. - July 23, 2014 - PRLog -- On Friday, October 24th, 2014 join members of the community as they golf for a cause. The golf tournament will take place at 9am on Hedingham Golf Course in Raleigh, NC. The tournament will include gift bags to guests, raffles, food, and beverages. This event is open to the public.

The Purple Jacket Golf Tournament is a scholarship fundraiser during St. Augustine’s University 2014 Homecoming weekend. Participants will have the opportunity to play in a fun-filled tournament for a cause. There will be two (2) scholarship recipients and each will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Awarded scholarships will be used for education expenses at St. Augustine’s University. Following the golf tournament, there will be a reception to present recipients with their scholarship. 15% of proceeds will be donated to the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.

However, with increased healthcare costs and a rapidly increasing percentage of uninsured women, many simply cannot afford the cost of screening tests. These women are at a significantly higher risk of dying from breast cancer if later diagnosed.
