The recent election results have put the political uncertainty to rest, while the latest budget has clarified on policy direction for all sectors. In addition, the last four years of consolidation has helped retailers rationalize costs, streamline supply chain and adopt technology at a rapid pace.

2) Emerging, independent retailers constitute 40% of total retail stores.

India's Retail sector is now at the 'cusp' of the next phase of growth, with emerging, independent retailers making up 40% of total retail stores, as per a research done by Hindustan Unilever. These are single stores/chains owned by entrepreneurs, and are focused on the three principles of modern trade – customer service, profitability, and inventory management.

3) RAI partnering with GoFrugal to understand the pulse of emerging, independent retailers.

In this context, the Retailers Association of India (RAI) is partnering with GoFrugal to understand the pulse of Emerging, Independent Retailers - who form the backbone of Indian Retail. We intent to understand the perspective of a cross section of Owners and CEOs - on People, Process and Technological aspects of retail sector, key challenges faced, as well as their overall aspirations for business in the next 2 to 5 years.

4) Results will be published as white paper at Chennai Retail Summit.
