Kor Company Announces Maritime, Oil/Gas Solutions Group

LAKE FOREST, Calif. - Aug. 1, 2014 - PRLog -- Lake Forest, CA, August 1, 2014 – KOR Company, Inc. announced today the formation of KOR Maritime, Oil/Gas Solutions Group. The creation of this division was developed to allow KOR to become the “Managed Solutions Provider” for the Maritime (Ports and Waterways), Oil and Gas markets. Due to increases in maritime commercial trade and related terrorist activity, challenges to maritime security have produced a demand for better and smarter technology to support our forces and protect our offshore assets. The U.S. maritime system alone includes more than 3,000 cargo and passenger terminals, shipping through 1,000 harbor channels and more than 12,000 miles of coastline.

The Energy and Oil & Gas industries have seen a tremendous growth. Onshore, oil and natural gas is produced at over 300,000 sites across the United States, and nearly 30,000 new wells are drilled each year. About 28 percent of US oil and gas production is from offshore sources. This production is spread over more than 4,000 oil and gas platforms. According to the Oil & Gas Journal, there are currently nearly 600 natural gas processing plants in the United States. Oil pipelines, both crude oil and refined petroleum products, are the most significant mode of petroleum transportation in the U.S. Pipelines carry 68% of oil transported (in barrel-miles), while water transportation accounts for 27%, trucks 3% and rail 2%. Nationwide there are some 160,000 miles of oil pipelines, excluding intra-state systems and gathering lines associated with crude oil production. Providing comprehensive security throughout these systems is no small undertaking. KOR will focus on a wide range of solutions from integrating with legacy equipment already installed to the creation of Situational Awareness Management Systems (SAMS) and Maritime Early Warning Systems (MEWS).
