Butterflies by Grace, Defined by Faith Foundation Hosts 3rd Annual SHEROS Gala & Silent Auction

Aug. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- August 1, 2014, Jackson, MS – Butterflies by Grace, Defined by Faith Foundation is devoted to changing the lives of Mississippians who’ve experienced violence.  The organization provides educational, cultural, domestic violence and sexual abuse awareness, as well as, resources and life skills training for participants.   On Saturday, August 23rd, the organization will host its 3^rd Annual SHERO’s Gala and Silent Auction - featuring special guest, author Toni L. Coleman Carter.  The event will be held at the Metro Center Mall, 3645 Hwy 80 in Jackson, MS.

Founded by Eva Jones, the first SHEROS event was held in 2012 as an avenue to increase community awareness around violence, to honor people who’ve overcome, and to inspire those who are still struggling to brake free.  Jones recently spoke about her motivation for creating Butterflies by Grace, Defined by Faith. “We all meet people who are hurting, depressed and hopeless.  My team and I wanted to create resources to help victims survive. Frankly, it takes more than a pat on the back or words of encouragement, to move out of these vicious, life altering, cycles.  No one deserves to be abused;  NO ONE!  If Butterflies can help just a fraction of people, this organization will have served its purpose.  We want struggling individuals to know - they’re not alone. We care and we’ll do our best to help eradicate violence in our community.”

About Guest Speaker Toni L. Coleman Carter:

For more than two decades, Author Toni L. Coleman Carter hid the scars of physical and sexual abuse, the shame of an attempted suicide, the challenges of being a teen mother, and the granite obstacles of climbing the corporate ladder.  Her ability to overcome those setbacks formed the basis for When Trouble Finds You (RTC Publishing).  A work dedicated to increasing awareness around issues impacting children, while inspiring the human spirit.   Since the book’s release Carter has been touring and spreading her message of hope across the country.
