Follow on Google News | Protochips Announces Atmosphere Gas E-Cell at M&M 2014Protochips introduces an innovative new product for quantitative in situ research at M&M.
By: Protochips, Inc. Atmosphere is a complete environmental gas cell system that frees researchers from the confines of the TEM vacuum. Based on unique semiconductor technology, Atmosphere’s name comes from its capability to generate up to one atmosphere of pressure within the microscope while still maintaining atomic resolution. It features ultra-low drift heating and automated closed-loop temperature control that can reach and maintain temperatures of 1000 °C. Through its novel holder design, Atmosphere is compatible with today’s most advanced EDS systems, allowing scientists to explore the composition of materials at very small scales. The front-to-back system is controlled by powerful, user-friendly software designed around experimental workflows. Atmosphere turns any electron microscope into a high performance environmental TEM. It’s compatible with STEM and TEM instruments from all major microscope manufacturers. “We created the company specifically to bring a product like this to market,” said Protochips CEO David Nackashi. “We have now fulfilled the goal of giving materials researchers a complete solution that allows them to develop the next generation of catalysts.” Protochips is now taking orders for Atmosphere.
