Follow on Google News | Tantalize your Tastebuds at the 19th Annual Eat to the Beat Culinary EventBy: Eat to the Beat Eat to the Beat is a mecca for urban foodies, and those who want to be, to experience the best Ontario’s culinary scene has to offer. It is the only event in Canada that exclusively features the talent of 60 female chefs – women supporting women, it doesn’t get any better than that and it’s an evening that should not be missed! Eat to the Beat has a cornucopia of sweet and savory foods, wines, premium beers and spirits for sampling at food and drink stations positioned around Roy Thomson Hall’s outer lobby. The incredible chef line-up includes: Sandra Abballe (Succulent Chocolates), Wanda Beaver (Wanda’s Pie in the Sky), Paula Bashford (Beretta Farms Inc.), Donna Dooher (Mildred’s Temple Kitchen), Kyla Eaglesham (Madeleines Cherry Pie and Ice Cream), Alexandra Feswick (Samuel J. Moore), Bonnie Gordon (Bonnie Gordon College of Confectionary Arts), Kimberly Humby (Pomodoro Trattoria), Anna Janes (Cocomira Confections) They’re fun, they’re colourful, they’re cheeky and they’ve become a tradition at Eat to the Beat. Adding class with a bit of sass, breast cancer survivors will be modeling original food-inspired corsets that they have created. The evening also includes live music, a silent auction featuring must-have items, and a raffle draw for a chance to win great prizes. Highlighted as one of Toronto’s top 15 Food, Wine and Hospitality events by BizBash magazine, Eat to the Beat has raised more than $3.5 million for Willow. In 2014 an estimated 24,400 women and 200 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in Canada. From the individual diagnosed, to their family, friends and caregivers, Willow Breast & Hereditary Cancer Support provides free support and information today for those who cannot wait for tomorrow’s cure. The Early Years of Eat to the Beat From their early days as entrepreneurs at Bagel Works to being the creative and driving force behind Eat to the Beat for the past 19 years, Lisa and Abby Slater have worked to support the community in which they live. After attending a fundraiser for Willow Breast & Hereditary Cancer Support, Abby was inspired by the courage and strength of the breast cancer survivors who spoke at the event and knew that she wanted to help further Willow’s mission to ensure that no one needs to face breast cancer alone. The Slater sisters lent their experience working in the restaurant business to create a signature event to benefit Willow Breast & Hereditary Cancer Support. They invited and quickly gained the support of female chefs, who were at the time the unrecognized heroines of the kitchen. Lisa and Abby’s business acumen combined with a delicious sense of humour and the will to make a positive difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer has resulted in Eat to the Beat being one of the most important fundraising events in Toronto.
