#GetNaked Worldwide: Antique Naked Soul bares all vocally, serving as music ambassadors in Ghana

OAKLAND, Calif. - Aug. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- Beat box band Antique Naked Soul (ANS) partnered with the non-profit organization, Young Gifted and Black (YGB) to tour schools in the country of Ghana as Poetry and Music Ambassadors. Notable performances were held at the Ehalakasa Festival, the Sellah Street Carnival, and at the uniquely designed National Theatre of Ghana. Antique Naked Soul is an a cappella beat box soul band that mixes hip hop and old school R&B, using only their voices as instruments.

Antique Naked Soul was birth three years ago by singer/songwriter Candace “Antique” Wicks as she sought to explore the idea of looping vocal melodies together in song. She later hooked up with Tommy “Soulati” Shepherd, a world renowned beat box master. The two began creating songs and later added background singers N’Gala McCoy and Jayme Brown to complete the group. With Ms. Wicks at the helm as lead vocalist and Mr. Shepherd providing the beats, Antique Naked Soul has toured the San Francisco Bay Area to support of their self-entitled release, Antique Naked Soul.

With their constant commitment to their community, the Oakland Indie Award Nominee Antique Naked Soul serves as artist in residence for YGB, providing support for their platform, while also broadening ANS’s international market. Antique Naked Soul is currently developing their #getnaked campaign which seeks to peel back the layers to expose trials, tribulations, successes and triumphs of the everyday man, which includes their musical stage play, Soundscape of Black Shame, previewing August 8,2014 as part of the Bay Area Now 7 Performance Festival (http://ybca.org/ban7-performance-festival) at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA). The play uses music to restoratively heal issues resulting from the antebellum period, and will be performed in three parts at Studio Grand in Oakland on Sep 20, Oct 24, and Nov 21.
