Cheap-Textbooks.com Launches Kickstarter Campaign

OREGON CITY, Ore. - Aug. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- Cheap-Textbooks.com, a cheap textbook locating service created by Bob Jones has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the development of a iPhone and iPad textbook price savings tool.

“We’re very excited to launch this campaign,” said Mr. Jones, Cheap-Textbooks creator. “Kickstarter offers a unique and personal way for us to directly reach fans and education technology more broadly. In this way, it is both a fundraising and awareness campaign platform.  Many students do not know there are tools to help lower textbook spending.”

Cheap-Textbooks was created to fill a gap in the Internet textbook market for college students, where options are few, and the needed textbooks are extremely expensive. Based on the need for automated  research, Cheap-Textbooks’ simple ISBN Lookup and price reporting tool simplifies a students search for the cheapest option. Not only do reports indicate the lowest pricing it allows quick comparison between used, rental, international and eBook options. A buyback calculator is also included.

The turn to a crowdfunding platform such as Kickstarter is part of a broader trend by tech and media companies to seek funding from non-traditional sources. Kickstarter is a funding platform for creative projects in which backers receive rewards, but not equity, for their support. Since its launch on April 28, 2009, over $1 billion has been pledged through Kickstarter by more than 6.8 million people, funding more than 67,000 creative projects.

Our current web based tool and Android app have helped thousands of students but we need a iPhone/iPad app to bring this service to the largest student population.”
