Spotlight Group Strengthens Team by Participating in Relay For Life

EDINA, Minn. - Aug. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- Spotlight Group team members brought along friends and family to help the cause, with a total contingent of around 13 people attending. The firm also donated four gift baskets to the silent auction held during the relay. Each basket was worth between $150 and $200 and was donated for the cause.

Relay for Life events allow communities to come together to raise money and awareness for the fight against cancer. Participants also honor cancer survivors and remember loved ones lost to the disease. The relay itself is an all-night event in which teams camp out and take turns walking or running around a track at a local high school or park.

After an opening ceremony, the relay begins in earnest with a lap reserved for cancer survivors. This is followed by a caregiver lap dedicated to those who have helped cancer patients. As the night progresses, individuals walk for their teams while family games, activities, and other forms of entertainment take place all around the venue.

Teams can represent businesses, churches, and a wide variety of other groups with the Relay for Life event lasting up to 24 hours. It has become the signature fundraising effort of the American Cancer Society. Spotlight Group was proud to play a part and looks forward to participating in many more Relay for Life events in the future.
