Gold Star & Great Taste Awarded To Beechwood Fine Foods

TRING, U.K. - Aug. 18, 2014 - PRLog -- Sarah Murray, owner of the Beechwood Fine Foods’ farm shop in the market town of Tring, Hertfordshire, has once again received one of the prestigious gold stars for her produce at the Great Taste Awards 2014.

Of the 10,000 products submitted, Sarah’s Gooseberry and Elderflower Jam achieved one of the sought-after gold stars.  The judges’ commented that the jam had the “aroma of ripe table gooseberries backed up by a touch of elderflower. Delightful gooseberry flavour and acidity. The texture is truly terrific - a delightful preserve in so many ways.”

The 2014 award follows Sarah’s success in 2013, when she won numerous awards for her Victoria Plum Jam, Boozy Berry Jam and Old Doverhouse Chutney; all part of the Beechwood own brand, homemade range of jams, chutneys and preserves and all available for sale at the Beechwood café deli at Frogmore Street in Tring.

The Great Taste Awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, of which Beechwood Fine Foods is a member, is the acknowledged benchmark for speciality food and drink in the UK. It has been described as “the Oscars of the food world and the epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize”.  The Great Taste logo is the sign of quality that consumers can trust when buying food and drink.

405 independent judges, including specially trained coordinating food writers, input their comments over 50 judging days from May through to the end of July, at venues and specialist test centres across London, Dorset and Ireland.

Winning is extremely important to the producers as it differentiates their products from their competitors.  Sarah added, “I’m absolutely delighted with my win, it makes all the hard work worth it!  Toby and I are passionate about the quality and provenance of foods we offer to our customers and the award of Great Taste stamps a seal of approval on our efforts.”
