Orthopaedic Specialists and Dr. Stacie Grossfeld Hire Two Physician Assistants To Join Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Aug. 17, 2014 - PRLog -- Orthopaedic Specialists, an orthopedic and sports medicine practice in Louisville, Kentucky, is excited to announce two new team members, both board certified physician assistants: Melissa Edds PA-C and Angel Porter PA-C.

Together Melissa Edds and Angel Porter have more than two decades of experience working as physician assistants. Both Ms. Edds and Ms. Porter are certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and are licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Ms. Edds received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Ms. Porter received a Bachelor of Science as a Physician Assistant in 1997 from Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, West Virginia.

Ms. Edds will be working in the office of Orthopaedic Specialists (see: http://www.louisvillebones.com) part-time one day a week. When not working at Orthopaedic Specialists, Ms. Edds serves as an Assistant Professor at Sullivan University for their new Physician Assistant program. Sullivan’s innovative approach to teaching and training encourages faculty to maintain professional skills by continuing in the field on a partitime basis. Ms. Edds is very excited to do this at Orthopaedic Specialists. Having previously worked with Louisville orthopedic surgeon Dr. Stacie Grossfeld several years ago, Melissa explains: “It will be great to see some of my old patients again and to work with Dr. Grossfeld and the wonderful team at Orthopaedic Specialists.”

After working with Baptist Worx for about a decade, Ms. Porter will be joining Dr. Grossfeld and the experienced team at Orthopaedic Specialists on a full-time basis as a physician assistant. After a decade of experience working as a physician assistant in occupational and emergency medicine, Angel is excited to have the chance to specialize in medicine focused on the bones and joints.

Talking about her new job working at Orthopaedic Specialists, Ms. Porter explains “I’m very excited to join Dr. Grossfeld’s team. Dr. Grossfeld is extremely knowledgeable and she also is very personable with patients, which I really like.” Angel also explains that she is happy to be working in the medical specialty of orthopedic and sports medicine. “I’m excited to be working in a medical specialty that focuses on helping people get well. I enjoy seeing people get back to health – and being a part of their overall care.”

As physician’s assistants at Orthopaedic Specialists, Ms. Edds PA-C and Ms. Porter PA-C will be closely involved in many facets of patient care with orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine physician Dr. Stacie Grossfeld (see: http://www.louisvillebones.com/grossfeld.htm). Some of their responsibilities will include obtaining medical histories, performing physical exams, ordering and interpreting lab work and diagnostic studies, performing certain medical procedures like injections and wound management, ordering orthotics, and helping to educate clients about their diagnosis and recommended treatment options.
